The Giant Devonport Orions have added another trophy to their collection in 2024/25 after taking out the Coastal Engineering & Belting North-West T20 Community Cup in Burnie on Sunday.

Facing Burnie Cricket League champions Riana in the final at West Park, the Orions coasted to a comfortable seven-wicket in the decider, reaching the target of 97 with 5.5 overs to spare.

After winning the toss and bowling first, a decision that led to plenty of success already this season, Eli Sheean's team bowled the Maroons out for just 96 in 17.1 overs, with five bowlers among the wickets, led by Dilan Sandigirigoda's 3-4 and Judd Broomhall's 2-16.

In reply the Orions were rarely in trouble, with an unbeaten 47 off 41 balls from coach Miles Barnard at the top of the order anchoring the run chase as the team claimed the North-West title for the third time.

The full scorecard for the game can be found here.

Earlier in the day, Riana qualified for the final by defeating Mersey Valley Cricket Association champions Don by 40 runs.
